Mum and Dad emigrated to Australia in 1958 with their three children Shirley, Tony, and Lawrence and for a short time stayed with our cousins in Glen Aplin near Stanthorpe in Queensland. Dad was a plumber and so to get work we moved to Redcliffe Peninsula just north of Brisbane where Tony and Lawrence (Lawrie) went to school at Humpybong State School and Shirley began a nursing career at the Royal Brisbane hospital. We at first lived in a flat and then a rental house until we had our first real home in Australia in Duffield Road. Around this time Shirley married Alan and went on to have five children. Tony finished his schooling and then joined the Navy eventually marrying Chris and having a son Shayne. Unfortunately after some years they were divorced and after the navy Tony tried New Zealand for a while before eventually settling back again in Queensland. He lived on an acreage in Caboolture until 2011 then sold up and moved to Launceston in Tasmania where he now lives with his partner Beverly. Lawrie outstayed them all and along with Mum and Dad moved to our second home in Redcliffe at Kingsford Street. After finishing school he went on to train as a radio technical officer with the Aviation Department and during this time became engaged and married Robyn. They moved to Cairns in Far North Queensland and had two children Ryan and Luke. Lawrie managed to put in nearly 30 years with the government before taking a redundancy package and from that they motorhomed about Australia for 7 years before selling up and becoming grey nomads travelling around in a 4x4 and caravan. In 2014 for a variety of reasons Lawrie & Robyn purchased a home in Palmwoods Tropical Village over 50's and sold their caravan and 4x4. Shirley and Alan eventually parted and now Shirley is married to Hugh and lives in an over 50's village in Burpengary. Dad passed away in 1982 after which mum became a prolific poet writing many spiritual poems. These can be enjoyed by following the link on the left. Mum spent her last years in a nursing home and left us to be with God in 2004, now rests in peace with Dad in Toowoomba not far from their last home. For more family details look at the links below.
